Conviction Marks Tragic End to Altercation that Led to Deadly Outcome

A former Navy SEAL has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the 2016 killing of a man in Santa Monica. The verdict was announced on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, following a trial that lasted several weeks.

The defendant, 34-year-old Theo Krah, faces a minimum sentence of 15 years to life in prison. He was found guilty of one count of second-degree murder in the death of 57-year-old Kris Anderson. The two men did not know each other before the fatal incident.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the incident occurred on June 11, 2016, near the Santa Monica Pier. Police say that Krah and Anderson had a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation. During the fight, Krah allegedly struck Anderson in the head, causing fatal injuries.

Krah was arrested by Santa Monica police in June 2022. He is a former member of the United States Navy's elite SEAL Team Six and has served in combat zones around the world.
